Frequently Asked Questions
What does a treatment session involve?
At Refined Physiotherapy your time is spent one-on-one with your physiotherapist. An initial consultation allows you to meet your physio and discuss the nature of your problem. A full history is taken to accurately identify all the contributing components and establish goals of treatment. Your physio will then conduct a physical assessment, examining the relevant postural, structural and mechanical factors contributing to your problem.
Your physio will diagnose the likely structures and nature of the problem and individually tailor a treatment plan to best address these issues.
Do I need a referral form from a GP or surgeon?
No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. You may call or book your appointment online.
For Medicare care plans, DVA and Workcover clients then a referral from your GP is necessary.
We will keep your doctor and any other practitioners involved in your care up to date with your treatment.
What conditions do you treat?
Our physiotherapist is highly qualified and experienced to treat most musculoskeletal and sport-related conditions. If you are unsure then please get in contact to ask before booking.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes; if you have extras cover on your policy then you may be eligible for a rebate on your appointment. Bring your private health card along and we can use the HICAPS machine onsite.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Please bring along any referrals, doctor's letters or imaging that is relevant to your condition.
We ask you to arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment to ensure we have all of your correct information.
Allow 45-60 minutes for your first appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
For respect to all other Refined Physiotherapy patients, we ask for 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment.
Failure to do this will result in you having to pay upfront for your next appointment.
Missed appointments will slow down your recovery, so it is in your best interest to attend all your appointments as scheduled by your physiotherapist.
What do I wear to my appointment?
Generally loose-fitting comfortable clothing is best. If you have a lower limb injury then shorts are ideal so the physiotherapist can see the injured body part.
If you have an upper body injury then a singlet or sports bra is preferred so we can assess the area accurately.
