Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a Physio treatment session involve?

At Refined, your session is fully dedicated to one-on-one time with your physiotherapist. In the initial consultation, you'll discuss your concerns, allowing your Physio to take a complete history and understand all contributing factors. A physical assessment follows, focusing on posture, structure, and mechanics to pinpoint the cause. Based on this, your Physio will provide a diagnosis and craft a personalized treatment plan.

  • Do Physiotherapists treat muscles or joints?

Physiotherapists address the root cause of pain or dysfunction, which often involves a combination of muscles, joints, and other structures like nerves, discs, ligaments, and tendons. Factors such as trauma, daily stresses, disease, and ageing can all impact these structures. By integrating knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology with clinical reasoning, physiotherapists identify and address the source of pain effectively.

  • Do I need a referral form from a GP or surgeon?

No referral is needed; you can see a physiotherapist directly. We also collaborate closely with GPs, surgeons, podiatrists, and radiologists and can facilitate referrals when necessary.

  • Will I have to do exercises?

Exercises, including strengthening, stretching, and adopting healthy postures, are essential to a successful treatment plan. How you move and position yourself outside sessions significantly influences healing. We focus on helping you develop self-management and prevention strategies as part of your recovery.

  • What is a senior clinician?

At Refined, our senior physiotherapists bring extensive experience from clinical or private practice backgrounds. We are dedicated to advancing their careers and have made valuable contributions within businesses and the locol community.
